Crested Pigeon
COMMON NAME: Crested Pigeon
CATEGORIES: Farmland
These birds are distinguished from other pigeons by their distinctive crest of black feathers sticking up from the top of their heads.
They have eye catching iridescent green and purple patches on their striped wings.
In flight, they make an unusual quivering sound, due to one slightly thinner flight feather on each wing.
Usually you will see them in pairs on the grass where they feed on seeds.
