The Sandy Point Community Group (SPCG), through community engagement, advocates on behalf of the community and is committed to preserving our unique natural environment.
ONGOING ADVOCACY & PROJECTS
Following several years of lobbying by the Sandy Point Community Group (with the endorsement of the Community Centre Committee, the Surf Club and the Foreshore Committee) the Shire has begun to consider a township masterplan so that capital funding can be allocated or sought for projects identified within the Plan and undertaken in a coordinated way.
The development of the Plan itself will involve the Shire in running a community consultation process.
A project to help manage sea spurge (Euphorbia paralias) — a highly invasive coastal weed that threatens dunes and sensitive coastal ecosystems.
The SPCG seeks to promote Sandy Point as a “walkable town”, safe for pedestrians, children, cyclists, wildlife. These take priority over cars in Sandy Point.
