Australian Hobby

Australian Hobby on the spit at Sandy Point

COMMON NAME: Australian Hobby

CATEGORIES: Beach Farmland

These small falcons are solitary birds.

They can be seen on the spit, sitting on a post or dead branch and surveying their surroundings.

They can also be spotted on the boundaries with farmland, including along Sandy Point Road as you enter the village.

They are talented hunters, pursuing insects and smaller birds which they catch in midair.
