Community eBus for Sandy Point

Sandy Point is the proud recipient of a 10 seater electric bus with a wheelchair lift.

Sandy Point and Venus Bay were selected for a grant from the VIC Dept of Transport and iMOVE to purchase electric buses for community transport since there are no public transport options in our communities.

The operation of the buses will be the subject of research by Latrobe University over the next 2 years to see how well a volunteer run community transport service can operate. If it is successful, we keep the bus, if not, the bus will go to another community.

The Sandy Point Bus Management Committee Inc. has been formed to coordinate and train volunteers, arrange scheduling and so on. There is also an engagement officer employed by Latrobe Uni one day per week to assist with all of these matters and reporting.
