These ducks have a distinctive large black shovel-shaped bill.
They can also be distinguished from other species of ducks by their elongated body, sloping forehead and eye-catching white flank patch.
These infrequent visitors to Sandy Point may be spotted in fresh water in inundated fields.
They are most likely to be found in the company of other species of ducks.
