Black Swan

Black Swan at Shallow Inlet

COMMON NAME: Black Swan

CATEGORIES: Inlet Farmland

A common resident of the inlet, these elegant swans tend to avoid people and mass around the back of the inlet.

They are herbivores and can be seen dabbling, bottoms up, eating sea grass and algae.

Sometimes they can also be seen in surrounding farmland.

Numbers of Black Swans at Shallow Inlet have dropped dramatically in the last few decades.
