Australasian Gannet
COMMON NAME: Australasian Gannet
CATEGORIES: Beach
Large white seabirds, they have distinctive black edged wing and tail feathers.
They can be spotted flying back and forth across Waratah Bay, often in small groups, looking for shoals of little fish.
When they locate prey, they tuck their wings and suddenly plummet, entering the water at great speed.
They then swallow any fish they have caught while still underwater.
