Australasian Pipit

Australian Pipit on the spit at Sandy Point

COMMON NAME: Australasian Pipit

CATEGORIES: Beach Farmland

These are small unobtrusive brown and white birds with long legs.

They can be identified by the signature bobbing of the tail as they strut around searching for insects.

They can be seen on the spit, in the foredunes and further back in grassy areas.

They may also be seen in other open habitats, like farmland.
