Sacred Kingfisher
COMMON NAME: Sacred Kingfisher
CATEGORIES: Bush
These beautiful aquamarine birds have a white collar and belly.
They come down from the north in the warmer months.
They like to perch high in woodlands, so they can swoop down to catch unsuspecting insects, beetles, grubs and small reptiles.
You are most likely to see these medium sized kingfishers on the outskirts of the village, up in gum trees overlooking grassy clearings or paddocks.
