2024 Current Cruiser

Not long now until the New Year and Sandy Point’s annual WIN Current Cruiser swim at Shallow Inlet on New Years Day. Sponsors have been very supportive and generous this year, including Marinus who have come on board as a major sponsor, and collectively we are on track to raise valuable funds to support the Waratah Beach Surf Life Saving Club volunteers this summer. Planning is well under way and we are now actively promoting through social media and regional posters to get the word out and lock away registrations, this year we are aiming for 300 swimmers. All approvals are in, web site is updated, Tomato timing is booked, T-shirts and swim caps are ordered, the WIN television commercial is finalised and ready to screen (thanks to club member Tim Moloney for producing this) and Dynasty, a 5 piece rock band from Melbourne, lined up to play covers and originals at the club house from 6pm as a free event.

The 2024 swim will include a number of exciting developments. As tides dictate the direction of the course, this year we will walk to the start lines (towards the inlet) and finish with at the car park where hopefully we have a good crowd of cheering onlookers (keep an eye on incoming tide and where you park your car). And also new for 2024 we have introduced the Driftwood Villas Family Float, a 500m drift on BYO floatation devices with the current and overseen by WBSLSC water safety volunteers, hopefully this proves popular and a regular inclusion on the day.
