These are just some of the groups and organisations available at Sandy Point - powered by volunteers.
Sandy Point Community Garden
The Sandy Point Community Garden is centrally located adjacent to the Community Centre in the T.P. Taylor Reserve. It is tended by a small group of enthusiastic gardeners, who would love to welcome any newcomers to the group.
The group meets every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month at 10am and everyone is welcome to join and participate.
Wildlife in Sandy Point (WiSP)
Sandy Point wouldn’t be the same without its wildlife - koalas, echidnas, wombats, possums and other native animals, together with an amazing range of birdlife. This group aims to advance the health and survival of our native animals, to protect their habitats and bolster the rescue program.

Sandy Point Music
Sandy Point Music is a community formed group, bringing live music to the Sandy Point and surrounding community, and aims to provide opportunities for regular community gatherings centred around quality live music. Proceeds are donated to local causes.

Sandy Point Community Power
Sandy Point Community Power Inc (SPCP) was formed in early 2020 to identify and lead community-owned renewable energy projects in the Sandy Point area. The objectives of SPCP are to promote and facilitate the transition to renewable energy locally, and to identify and implement energy schemes that provide the option of cheaper power to its members.
Sandy Point Community Centre and T.P. Taylor Reserve Community Asset Committee
This committee is responsible for the management of the Community Centre, the surrounding reserve, tennis courts and playground, and is a Special Committee under the governance of South Gippsland Shire Council. The facilities are used for regular activities and classes, and as a special venue for cultural and significant life events.
Sandy Point Foreshore Committee of Management
The main role of Sandy Point Foreshore Committee is to manage the coastal reserve which includes the coastal strip adjacent to the Sandy Point township and extending about half way to Waratah Bay, and all the bushland between the Eastern end of the township (Manuka Street) and Shallow Inlet.
Marine Search and Rescue Service
Sandy Point has a Marine Search and Rescue Service (MSAR), established in 2007 and supported by MSAR volunteers and Surf Life Saving Club members. It provides an emergency response service for rescue and recovery of marine vessels and their occupants in Shallow Inlet and Waratah Bay.

Waratah Beach Surf Life Saving Club (WBSLSC)
Waratah Beach Surf Life Saving Club (WBSLSC) has a Club House on the Sandy Point foreshore, overlooking the beach. It can be reached via the main track to the beach opposite the General Store. Sandy Point’s beach is patrolled by lifesavers during the summer when the red and yellow flags are displayed. This service is provided at weekends and public holidays from the last weekend in November to Easter Monday. An additional life guard service is provided between mid-December and mid-January.
Sandy Point Men’s Shed
The Sandy Point Community Men’s Shed is now an important and popular part of the community. The group meets on a monthly basis to plan shed projects and discuss ways to assist and undertake community projects.
Sandy Point Bus Management Committee (SPBMC Inc.)
This committee is responsible for the management of the Sandy Point community electric bus, known as “Sandy”.
South Coast Boardriders
South Coast Boardriders Club is for surfers of any age and any skill level from learners to advanced. The Club holds season contests but also family events and free surf days!
