Common Greenshank

These migratory shorebirds are long-legged and long-necked.

Pale in appearance, they are white underneath with fine grey streaks on top.

They have distinctive grey-green legs.

Either solitary or in small groups, they are wary and quick to flight if disturbed.

They breed from Scotland across to Siberia.
