Laughing Kookaburra

Laughing Kookaburra on the Roy Henderson trail at Sandy Point

COMMON NAME: Laughing Kookaburra

CATEGORIES: Bush Farmland

The largest of the kingfishers, they are world famous for their distinctive maniacal laugh. Listen out for their call at dawn and dusk.

They like to sit up high, looking across cleared spaces for small mammals, reptiles and birds to feed on.

They are usually seen singularly or in pairs.
