Masked Lapwing
COMMON NAME: Masked Lapwing
CATEGORIES: Inlet
These large birds have distinctive yellow wattles on their faces and concealed spurs.
They are ground dwelling and usually are seen in pairs.
You can spot them out on the mudflats and in the surrounding vegetation at the inlet, where they are searching for worms and insects.
They have a very distinctive and loud call.
Watch out, because if you get too close, they may swoop while calling aggressively.
