Royal Spoonbill

Royal Spoonbill at Shallow Inlet

COMMON NAME: Royal Spoonbill

CATEGORIES: Inlet

Royal Spoonbills are stunning snowy white birds with distinctive glossy black spoon-shaped bills.

Groups of Royal Spoonbills are regular visitors to Shallow Inlet, often taking up residence for many months.

They can be seen feeding in shallow water, sweeping their bills in an arc as they probe for prey, which they toss in the air and swallow.
