Caravan and Camping Park: VCAT Appeal
The Sandy Point Community Group (SPCG) has resolved to lodge an appeal with the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) following South Gippsland Shire Council’s decision to grant a permit for the latest subdivision proposal for the Sandy Point Caravan and Camping Park.
The future of the Caravan and Camping Park has been a longstanding concern for the Sandy Point community. Its loss would represent a significant social, economic, and cultural impact on the town. The SPCG is committed to pursuing the best possible outcome for the community and will present comprehensive planning and environmental arguments as part of the appeal process.
A previous application for a 14-lot subdivision of the site was refused by Council, a decision that was subsequently upheld by VCAT. The SPCG was actively involved in that process as both an objector and a party to the proceedings.
The SPCG believes the latest proposal fails to adequately address key issues identified in the earlier VCAT ruling. In particular, concerns remain that important planning and environmental considerations have not been sufficiently resolved.
SPCG will continue to advocate strongly on behalf of the Sandy Point community throughout the VCAT appeal process and will keep the Sandy Point Community Group website updated with any developments Caravan Park subdivision — Sandy Point, Victoria
