Pacific Golden Plover
COMMON NAME: Pacific Golden Plover
Pacific Golden Plovers are migratory birds that favour the inlet.
They tend to spread out across the mudflats and can be very hard to spot.
Their plumage has a lovely golden tone in summer, which changes to a distinctive black breeding plumage just before they migrate in April.
You’ll need to scan the mudflats with binoculars to see these beautiful birds.
