Targeted Fauna Survey
The project will comprise of both desktop and field elements, and include a targeted survey for Swamp Skink and Glossy Grass Skink: in addition to this the fauna will discuss the fauna values, potential threats and any management concerns.
Vegetation Management Plan
Development of a Vegetation Management Plan for the reserve, providing flora identification and management strategies specific to the location.
Sea Spurge Biocontrol
A project to help manage sea spurge (Euphorbia paralias) — a highly invasive coastal weed that threatens dunes and sensitive coastal ecosystems.
Walkable Town
The SPCG seeks to promote Sandy Point as a “walkable town”, safe for pedestrians, children, cyclists, wildlife. These take priority over cars in Sandy Point.
Masterplan for Sandy Point
Following several years of lobbying by the Sandy Point Community Group (with the endorsement of the Community Centre Committee, the Surf Club and the Foreshore Committee) the Shire has begun to consider a township masterplan so that capital funding can be allocated or sought for projects identified within the Plan and undertaken in a coordinated way.
The development of the Plan itself will involve the Shire in running a community consultation process.
